Langha forest range visit-Life around UPES-Manomay Datar

  Langha forest range visit   This project is about last week’s trip to Langha forest and what I learnt from my visit. As a student of the School of Liberal Studies (SOLS),UPES we visited the forest. The purpose of this trip was to learn about the ecosystem of Kandoli and to be more connected to the environment. We all woke up early in the morning for the trip and assembled at the amphitheatre by ( am sharp. We all exchanged greetings and sat on the bus around 9:30 am. Just as luck would have it, it started raining as soon as we sat on the bus as if the weather was teasing us. We reached outside Bidholi campus 10 minutes later and embarked on the journey by foot from there onwards.     We were introduced to the local forest officer sent by the Langha Range Forest department and his accomplice who briefed us on the useful information about the forest. Visit-Dunga Haveli-Life Aund UPES

    After Traversing and exploring the Langha Range Forests, we visited the Haveli Doonga Palace or Estate. The estate was an ancient building and historically it was significant to the person or family who had control over the valley or the hill. At the entrance, there’s a fountain welcoming the people which is unique.                                                 Entrance of the Haveli Doonga Estate.   The condition of the building is not in a good condition as its broken-down. Civilians nearby say that this building has some historical significance. Field Visit to Langha Range

  Field Visit to Langha Range   On the 25th of March 2023 we went for a field trip to the Langha Range. The Langha Range is a part the Kalsi forest range  and is a part of the Vikasnagar tehsil of Dehradun district. We were accompanied by 2 forest officers who guided us along the trek.  At the start of the trek we were informed about the main trees found in this range which is the Sal tree. The other trees found in this area have been planted by the forest department. They explained that the trees which are planted by the forest department are also chosen according to the weather. Only trees which can be naturally found in the area are planted. We also found that teak is not planted anymore as it takes too much water because of which there is no undergrowth near the tree. The Langha range forests visit  The Langha range forests were situated in the Vikas Nagar area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand. These forests or a area of Vegetation has a Road which passes through it for the Transportation. We reached to the Langha area at 9:30 AM and walked along the side path of the road to explore the various species of Vegetation, plantations and Animals living and are part of that forests.   We got some of the state government officers of the Langha Range Forest department Accommodating us. A higher rank Experienced officer Mr. Vipendra Kumar and his both the Assistants have Enlightened and Educated us about the Forests.     He also mentioned that these forests were under the protection and are preserved by the state government. He mentioned about some common vegetation covers found in the Langha Range.
