The Langha range forests visit-Life Around UPES-Sriram Jyothula

The Langha range forests visit

The Langha range forests were situated in the Vikas Nagar area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand. These forests or a area of Vegetation has a Road which passes through it for the Transportation. We reached to the Langha area at 9:30 AM and walked along the side path of the road to explore the various species of Vegetation, plantations and Animals living and are part of that forests.

We got some of the state government officers of the Langha Range Forest department Accommodating us. A higher rank Experienced officer Mr. Vipendra Kumar and his both the Assistants have Enlightened and Educated us about the Forests.

He also mentioned that these forests were under the protection and are preserved by the state government. He mentioned about some common vegetation covers found in the Langha Range. Some of these vegetations included Sal, Sagwan, Silver Oak, etc.

And also, he mentioned about some Wild animals and birds which live in that area like the leopards, peacocks, etc.

A Rare species of flora was also found in this area, a Species in the Orchid flowers called the Bauhinia variegate.

One of the Orchid Species( Bauhinia variegate)found in the Langha Range Forests.

The forest officer explained that the Vegetation involved various species of trees like Sal, Sagwan, silver oak and other flora like one of the orchids(Bauhinia variegate). And, also mentioned that only the Sal is naturally grown and all the other trees like the sagwan, silver oak, orchid flowers, sheesham,  eucalyptus, Kapok which is generally called ‘Panji’, Khair are planted by the state government to fulfill their demand purposes.

Especially the Sagwan tree (Teak) is used exclusively for commercial purposes and for furniture and other household purposes. But now, eucalyptus and sagwan was stopped from planting because after the full and complete growth of these two plants, it is not feasible for other plants and vegetation to grow and sustain. It is because of the bigger roots of the sagwan tree which could resist other plants and saplings to grow.

The state government officer who belonged to the forest department named Mr.Vipendra Kumar had educated and enlightened us about the whole ecosystem of the Langhar Range Forests.
